While I did visit many other parts of the Metropolitan Museum of Art on this day in May 2025 I pretty much only took pictures of items in the Arms and Armor section.
Adam Savage (Of MythBusters fame) has a fantastic series of behind the scenes videos of various items in this section, see: Adam Savage’s Tested
Items shown below are ordered roughly in historical age.
My older son loves lobster as do I and we will often buy it in the summer when it goes on sale and make lobster rolls.
We also like to stop for lunch at Yankee Lobster whenever we are in Boston.
The Saratoga Battle Monument is in the tiny village of Victory NY, and overlooks the site of the Battles of Saratoga on September 19 and October 7, 1777 which are generally considered the turning point of the American Revolutionary War. It's about 100 miles south from our house in Vermont.
I first learned of the Gettysburg History Museum from the YouTube channel The History Underground.
When I visited Gettysburg on my trip driving from Miami, home to Vermont I made sure to carve out some time to visit the museum. It's a small place, I walked right past it even knowing what block it was on. Inside it is absolutely jam packed with relics of the Battle of Gettysburg and many items from World War II.

The sculpture Digital DNA in a photo taken by me in 2010 while visiting San Francisco for work with my co-worker and friend Spencer. At the time this sculpture was located in downtown Palo Alto.
It's a picture I have used for my GitHub avatar for many years so when I created this new site it was what I immediately thought of to be the logo and favicon.
First light
August 3rd 2023 was the 100th anniversary of the first inauguration of Calvin Coolidge as the 30th president of the United States of America at his fathers home in Plymouth Notch.
We weren't able to attend the inauguration reenactment ceremony on August 3rd since it was during the work week but we did go on the following Saturday when they had a second inauguration reenactment ceremony.
